PrairieDogginIt

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 16, 2026

PrairieDogginIt ("we", "us") is operated by Joseph Sands / JArch Designs. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

  • Account info. When you sign in with Google, Apple, or email/password, we receive your email and (if you grant it) your display name and avatar from the provider.
  • User content. Listings, reviews, flags, and photos you submit, along with the coordinates you attach to them.
  • Location data. When you grant location permission, we read your device's location to show nearby listings. We do not continuously track you in the background and we don't store your precise GPS coordinates on our servers for your account.
  • Approximate location from your IP. We pass your IP address to a third-party geolocation lookup (ip-api.com) once per IP to derive an approximate city / region / country. We use that to show admins where traffic comes from on aggregate heatmaps. This is rough — usually accurate to the city level, sometimes only to the region.
  • Basic usage data. Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request path) for security and reliability. Page views and a small set of product events (e.g., "listing viewed", "review posted") are sent to PostHog so we can understand how the product is used. We don't record your screens or your input.
  • Ad identifiers. If you use the mobile app, Google AdMob may access device advertising identifiers subject to your OS-level privacy settings. On the web, Google AdSense may use cookies. See Google's policies for details.
  • Crash and diagnostic data. When the app crashes or hits an error, Sentry collects the stack trace, device model and OS version, app version, and a session ID so we can diagnose and fix it. We do not include the contents of your messages, listings, or other user content in crash reports.
  • Payment and payout information. We never see or store your full card number — card details go directly to Stripe. We keep a record of what you bought, the amount, and Stripe's identifiers for the transaction. If you monetize a listing, Stripe Connect collects identity verification data directly from you (legal name, date of birth, address, government ID where required, and bank account details) in order to pay you and to meet anti-money-laundering and tax-reporting obligations. That information is held by Stripe as its own controller under Stripe's privacy policy; we receive only your account status, whether you are cleared to receive payouts, and transaction amounts.

How we use it

  • Show nearby listings, reviews, and photos on the map and list.
  • Authenticate you and keep you signed in.
  • Attribute your content (display name on listings you add, reviews you write).
  • Moderate the platform — review flags, remove spam or inappropriate content.
  • Show ads (on the free tier) and process payments for the ad-free upgrade.
  • Communicate with you about service changes, security, and account issues.

Who we share with

  • Service providers that help us run the app: Supabase (database + auth), Cloudflare (R2 image storage and web hosting), Railway (API hosting), Google / Apple (authentication), Stripe (all card payments — subscriptions, listing setup fees, and paid-listing entry and permit purchases — and, for listing owners who monetize, Stripe Connect identity verification and payout processing), Google AdMob and AdSense (advertising), PostHog (product analytics), Sentry (crash reporting and error monitoring), Resend (transactional email delivery), Expo (push notification delivery), ip-api.com (IP-based approximate location).
  • Law enforcement when required by valid legal process.

We do not sell your personal information for money. Some U.S. state privacy laws treat the use of personalized advertising as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can limit this through your device's ad settings and Google's ad settings, or by using the ad-free upgrade.

Where your data is processed (international transfers)

PrairieDogginIt is operated from the United States, and the service providers above process data in the United States and other countries. If you use the service from the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or elsewhere outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S. Where required, these transfers rely on the transfer safeguards our providers put in place, which may include the EU-U.S. / UK Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for detail about a specific provider.

Legal bases for processing (EEA / UK)

If the EU or UK GDPR applies to you, we rely on these legal bases:

  • Contract — to create and run your account and provide the features and purchases you request.
  • Legitimate interests — to secure the service, prevent abuse, moderate content, and understand and improve how the product is used, balanced against your rights.
  • Consent — for optional analytics, personalized ads, and marketing notifications; you can withdraw it at any time.
  • Legal obligation — to comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests.

We don't make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects about you based solely on automated processing.

Public content

Listings, reviews, photos, and your chosen display name are visible to everyone who uses PrairieDogginIt — including people who aren't signed in. Don't submit anything you wouldn't want seen publicly.

Your choices

  • Location. You can deny or revoke location permission in your device / browser settings. The app still works without it — you just won't see distances or nearby results.
  • Ads. Use the ad-free upgrade to remove in-app ads. On the web, you can manage ad personalization atadssettings.google.comand on mobile via your OS-level ad settings.
  • Access / delete your data. Delete your account in the mobile app under Settings → Delete account. Step-by-step instructions and details on what gets deleted vs retained are at /delete-account. The active database is purged within 30 days of deletion; backups rotate out within 90 days. For data export or web-only requests, email noreply@prairiedogginit.com.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live — including the EEA, UK, and a number of U.S. states — you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a portable copy, restrict or object to certain processing, and withdraw consent you previously gave. To exercise any of these, email noreply@prairiedogginit.com or delete your account in-app (Settings → Delete account). We won't discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

If you're in the EEA or UK and believe we've mishandled your data, you can lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority — though we'd appreciate the chance to sort it out first.

How long we keep your data

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law. Account data is kept while your account is active; after deletion, the active database is purged within 30 days and backups rotate out within 90 days. Aggregate or de-identified analytics may be kept longer. Public content you posted may persist where others have saved or incorporated it.

Marketing communications

We may send occasional promotional notifications or emails. You can opt out any time — turn off "News & promotions" in Settings → Notifications, use the unsubscribe option in an email, or adjust your device notification settings. Opting out of marketing doesn't stop essential account, security, or transactional messages.

Children

PrairieDogginIt is not directed to children. You must be at least 13 — or 16 in parts of the EEA and UK where that is the minimum age of digital consent — to use it. If we learn we've collected data from a child under the applicable age without the required consent, we'll delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard protections (TLS in transit, access controls on our backend, and password hashing through Supabase Auth). No system is perfectly secure; use a unique password and keep your account credentials private.

Changes to this policy

We'll post material changes to this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the revised policy.
